Pastor Wayne Wilson

I was blessed to grow up as the second child in a family of four children. Our family began attending church when I was five years old and God saved me while I was attending Vacation Bible School in Merritt Island, Florida in 1967. Since I was six years old when God saved me, I often joke that “I waited until I was already a Christian to build my testimony”!

While this is meant to be somewhat humorous, it is still very true. Although I was saved and baptized at a young age and continued to faithfully attend church “every time the doors were open,” I didn’t earnestly seek to grow in my relationship with the Lord until later in my adult life. Because of this, I appeared to be “religious” on the outside while often not experiencing the consistent kind of relationship with the Lord that I should have--- one of serving Him and others out of love for Him and others.

I married Tina in 1980 and we have a grown daughter and son and several grandchildren. During the first 12 years after graduating from high school, I worked as a plumber until realizing I was running from God’s true calling on my life to be a preacher/pastor. I surrendered my life to do whatever He wanted, wherever He wanted and however He wanted.

I began attending seminary in 1990 and began pastoring my first church in Tioga, Texas in 1993. In 1995, I graduated from Louisiana Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical and Pastoral Studies. I have pastored several churches in Texas, Wyoming and Florida.

My greatest desire continues to be the salvation of unbelievers and the spiritual growth of Christians resulting in true unity in the Church. I am blessed to be able to pursue this calling as a Pastor/Elder with the congregation of Church on the Hill.

We enjoy freedom in our praise and worship of God through smaller and larger gatherings for prayer, Bible study, fellowship, music and service to one another and our community. We truly desire to be a safe place to learn about and love God and each other together.
